Research
The Research section of the website presents a collection of scholarly works focusing on Islamic studies and Islamic thought. It features academic journals that explore classical and contemporary perspectives, critical discussions, and analytical reflections grounded in Islamic intellectual traditions. These journals aim to contribute to academic discourse and support the development of knowledge within both religious and intellectual contexts.
In addition, this section showcases essays and written works by students of the Arrisalah Institute pesantren. These essays represent students’ perspectives on social, historical, religious, and academic issues, reflecting their critical thinking and intellectual engagement. Through this platform, the Arrisalah Institute encourages research, writing, and scholarly expression rooted in Islamic values and the pesantren’s academic environment.
Shortcourse
The Short Course section highlights a series of collaborative academic programs conducted in partnership with various institutes, both domestic and international. These short-term courses are designed to provide focused learning experiences through interdisciplinary approaches, expert-led sessions, and interactive discussions, fostering academic exchange and institutional collaboration.
Through these partnerships, the Short Course programs aim to broaden participants’ perspectives by exposing them to diverse intellectual traditions and global academic environments. By engaging with scholars and institutions from within and beyond the country, the Arrisalah Institute seeks to strengthen academic networks, enhance educational quality, and promote cross-cultural understanding.
Workshop
The Workshop section features a series of interactive programs designed to enhance students’ intellectual and creative capacities in the digital era. These workshops include book review and discussion sessions that engage with texts circulating within the pesantren community, as well as writing classes and other skill-based activities. The programs are structured to encourage critical reading, analytical thinking, and effective written expression in response to contemporary challenges.
In addition, these workshops serve as an open academic space that welcomes participants beyond the pesantren, including students from UIN Yogyakarta and other institutions who are interested in developing similar competencies. By integrating traditional scholarly practices with digital literacy and modern academic skills, the workshops aim to strengthen students’ capabilities and prepare them to engage productively with knowledge production in the digital age.
Fieldworks
The Fieldworks section highlights experiential learning activities that allow students to engage directly with social, cultural, and educational environments beyond the classroom. These field-based programs are designed to connect theoretical knowledge with real-world contexts through observation, participation, and structured reflection. By immersing students in diverse settings, fieldworks foster practical understanding and critical awareness of societal dynamics.
Through fieldworks, students are encouraged to develop research skills, social sensitivity, and collaborative competencies by interacting with local communities and institutions. These activities support academic learning while cultivating adaptability and contextual insight, enabling students to apply their knowledge meaningfully and responsibly in addressing contemporary social and educational challenges.
