Yogyakarta — Pondok Pesantren Ar-Risalah Yogyakarta organized an Academic Writing Workshop for students under the theme of strengthening the fundamentals of scholarly writing. The workshop was attended by first-year students of Universitas Islam Negeri (UIN) Sunan Kalijaga Yogyakarta from the Islamic Studies Study Program, as well as members of Pondok Pesantren Ar-Risalah.
The workshop aimed to equip students with an initial understanding of academic writing, including an introduction to the structure of scholarly works, principles of academic language, and the importance of accuracy and academic integrity in the writing process. This activity is expected to serve as essential preparation for students, particularly freshmen, in meeting the academic demands of higher education.
Participants’ enthusiasm was evident throughout the workshop, especially during the discussion and question-and-answer sessions, which addressed various early challenges faced by students in writing academic papers. The interaction between participants from both the university and the pesantren communities helped create a dynamic and collaborative learning atmosphere.
As the closing activity, workshop participants attended a communal gathering organized by the committee. The program then continued with a visit to Sambisari Temple as part of an introduction to Yogyakarta’s local history and cultural heritage. This agenda served as both a reflective and recreational moment for the participants after completing the academic sessions.
Through this activity, Pondok Pesantren Ar-Risalah reaffirms its commitment to supporting the development of students’ academic capacities and strengthening the synergy between pesantren traditions and the academic world of higher education.
